Setters highlight final '25 State Players of the Week #13
Setters in Orange Coast's Sophie Vienna, Cuesta's Emma Watkins, and Solano's Kaylie Reyes joined Hartnell middle blocker Soniyah King as CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #13.
Vienna, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Edison High in Huntington Beach, totaled 77 assists and 20 digs in a pair of OCC sweeps over Cypress and Saddleback, completing a perfect regular season for the Pirates at 25-0.
Vienna dished out 41 assists with 13 digs v. Saddleback and served three aces with 36 helpers v. Cypress. She is second in the state in assists per set at 10.91 average.
Watkins, a 6-0 freshman from Placer High in Auburn, taillied 34 assists, six kills, 11 digs, four aces and three blocks in the Cougars' 5-set upset over LA Mission, then delivered eight kills, 31 assists, five aces and nine digs in Cuesta's victory over Bakersifed.
Reyes, a 5-6 sophomore who also is an outside hitter out of Armijo High in Fairfield, totaled 25 kills, hit .370, set 36 assists and served seven aces in a pair of Solano wins to finish Bay Valley Conference play.
King, a 6-1 sophomore from Burke High in Omaha, Nebraska, crushed 16 kills and stuffed 15 blocks as Hartnell split to 4-set matches last week. She is 12th in the state in blocks per set at a 1.02 average.
