SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer scored twice in the opening minutes of each half to roll to a 4-0 victory over Los Angeles Pierce College in the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional playoffs.

The Wolverines will play Saturday against the winner of the Rio Hondo-Santiago Canyon matchup being played later Tuesday.

San Bernardino Valley got on the board in the 11th minute, as Karen Jacobs took the ball into the left wing corner. She fired the ball across the goal, where Monica Garcia ran onto the ball and tucked it in the far post for a 1-0 lead.

The Wolverines expanded their lead just over two minutes later, as Morgan Simmang was taken down from behind by Pierce's Kieran Neal in the penalty box, awarding the Wolverines a penalty kick. Stephanie Doran calmly slotted the penalty kick inside the left post for a 2-0 lead.

It stayed that way until the second half. But not for long. The Wolverines had the opening kickoff of the second half, and sent the ball back to defender Jordyn DeJongh, who sent the ball long down the right side. Jacobs collected the ball and took it toward the right edge of the penalty area. Her cross went inside the back post for a goal just 14 seconds into the second half.

Less than two minutes later, Jacobs had the ball on the left side, and she sent a hard, low pass into the middle, where Simmang was able to get a foot on it to deflect it past goaltender Brianne Jacobo and the 4-0 lead.

The Wolverines fired 21 shots toward goal, with 11 on target, giving Jacobo seven saves in the game. Natalie Carreon got the start in goal for the Wolverines, and got credit for the win with no saves. Ann-Marie O'Connell played the second half, making three saves.
