Butte's Silva, A Former State Leading Scorer, Selected To CCCWBCA Hall of Fame
VISALIA -- Butte College alumnae Jennifer Silva, who led the state in scoring in the 1981-82 season, is the lone inductee into the 2026 class of the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Associaton (CCCWBCA) Hall of Fame.
Silva will be honored at the annual state tourney Banquet of Champions at College of the Sequoias tonight (March 11) at 6 p.m. as the association also celebrates the eight teams here and All-State squad.
Playing two seasons at Butte after originally attending Oregon University on a field hockey scholarship, Silva first attended Butte as a freshman in 1980-81, helping the Roadrunners to a 14-11 record and a trip to the North Regionals.
In her sophomore season, she scored at 24 points a game as Butte finished 22-5, won the Golden Valley Conference title, and placed third at the state's North Regional Tournament (between 1979-1984, postseason play ended at the regional level). She was MVP of the GVC and was picked to the All-State Team, playing under head coach Tom Powers.
At 5-foot-8, Silva played guard/forward and was an all-around talent. She also played as an All-State field hockey player and ran for Butte's track and field team.
She went on to play one season of basketball at San Francisco State and was selected all-conference.
After earning a degree in physical therapy at UCSF, she now runs her own PT practice in the Bay Area.
Silva Tubbs is married to husband Greg with two adult children in Ryan and Jake.
