CCCSIA men’s soccer poll experiences minor shifts with Foothill still leading the way

RIVERSIDE CITY - The state's No. 1 Foothill still leads the way in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) men’s soccer rankings. The two-headed beast in the North, while still comprising the top three, was dethroned by the South’s top dog in No. 2 Mt. San Antonio.  

No. 1 Foothill and No. 3 Hartnell faced off in a battle of the North’s best teams. It was a close second-half battle with Hartnell taking the late advantage in the after halftime, but Foothill’s Djelani Phillips saved the day with a goal in the 90^th minute to preserve his team’s undefeated record.  

No. 2 Mt San Antonio has risen one position and continues to act as the top competitor in the South for the third straight week. They punched home two conference wins and scored five goals in the process.  

No. 4 Folsom Lake and No. 5 Golden West round out the top five as neither of them suffered a loss. Folsom Lake ended the week’s play in a 2-2 draw with No. 8 Merced, while Golden West routed Santiago Canyon, 4-2, and tied with No. 15 Fullerton, 2-2, to remain atop the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) standings.  

No. 10 El Camino fell four positions after tying with LA Harbor, 2-2. No. 19 Las Positas mirrored the downfall No. 17 Evergreen Valley defeated them, 5-0.
