Position Description:
The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Board invites applications for the Executive Director of the CCCAA. The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the CCCAA and reports to the CCCAA Board. The Executive Director oversees operations, provides administrative leadership, and directs the day-to-day operations of the CCCAA and its staff. The Executive Director implements the vision and strategic plan of the CCCAA and is responsible for overseeing the statewide structure and functioning of California Community College athletics. Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in any field, Master’s preferred.
Five or more years in a management or leadership position, preferably within athletics.
Demonstrated commitment to furthering diversity and equity as core values of the CCCAA
Timeline:

Salary & Benefits:

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and is accountable to and reports directly to the CCCAA Board of Directors. The Executive Director oversees operations, provides administrative leadership, and directs the day-to-day operations of the CCCAA and its staff. The Executive Director implements the vision and strategic plan of the CCCAA Board of Directors, and is responsible for managing the association and its staff and overseeing the statewide structure and functioning of California community college athletics.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Provides leadership for the CCCAA including: strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs, conferences, and all functions of the organization
- Provides the CCCAA Board with accurate, timely, and relevant information necessary to promote the goals and objectives of the CCCAA and California community college athletics
- Works with the CCCAA Board in the development of annual goals for the CCCAA and the Executive Director
- Consistently and effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to: the CCCAA Board; the Community College League of California President and CEO; CCCAA member districts and colleges, and prospective sponsors
- Responsible for maintaining and distributing meeting minutes of the CCCAA Board and Management Council
- Develops financial support for CCCAA activities
- Represents the CCCAA at meetings and appropriate events in consultation with the CCCAA Board Chair
- Responsibility for ensuring accurate accounting and audit of all CCCAA funds, and works collaboratively with the CFO of the Community College League of California
- Maintains and disseminates accurate and timely revisions of the Constitution and CCCAA policies affecting its member colleges
- Selects, supervises, and evaluates CCCAA staff
- Assures member compliance with the CCCAA Constitution and all CCCAA policies
- Recommends changes to the CCCAA Constitution as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Transparent and high integrity leadership
- Commitment to public higher education and programs working to foster ethical student-athletes and coaches
- Commitment to furthering diversity and equity as core values of the CCCAA
- A bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
- Five or more years in a management or leadership position
- Experience and skill working with a Board of Directors
- High level strategic and creative thinking and planning skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of practices and policies that support diversity, inclusiveness and equity and works to enact them
- Ability to envision and communicate the association’s strategic future to the staff, board, member colleges and CCCAA stakeholders
- Ability to effectively communicate the association’s vision to the Board, staff, member colleges, sponsors, media and elected leaders
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
- Strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
- Effective written, oral communication, and advocacy skills
- Demonstrated success in establishing relationships and contracts with individuals and/or organizations of influence, including partner organizations, funders or sponsors, and relevant stakeholders to expand athletics sponsorships that benefit all athletic programs across the state
- Knowledge of Name, Image, and Likeness legislation and implementation timelines
- Strong motivational and staff leadership abilities
- Strong work ethic and commitment to the association and leadership role
Position Responsibilities:
- In consultation with the CCCAA Board, develop and implement strategies to advance the mission of the association and to implement the strategic plan
- Build and maintain an effective staff by providing guidance, professional development, and clear delegation of responsibilities
- Create and maintain a sustainable short- and long-term budget and financial plan for the association
- Forge and maintain strong professional relationships with association members, affiliate organizations, and CCCAA stakeholders
- Provide clear and internally consistent rules and regulations for association-member athletic programs and team functions and activities
- Strengthen and maintain a knowledgeable and professional cadre of individuals charged with overseeing and enforcing regulations and rules for competitive athletics
- Develop and maintain sponsors for association activities and CCCAA-member athletics
- Represent the association in testimony and meetings with elected officials and other influential organizations such as NCAA, NAIA, NACDA, and individuals to advance the CCCAA mission and well-being of student-athletes and college programs
Position Relationships:
Membership: Has significant and frequent involvement with association members and stakeholders.
Boards: Reports directly to the CCCAA Board, indirectly to the League Board of Directors.
Government: Communicates with elected officials and may testify on legislation affecting community college athletics.
Public: Communication with members of the public, and/or with individuals and groups affecting California community college athletics.
Other Organizations: Involvement with associations and individuals concerned with community college athletics.
Association Staff: Works closely with CCCAA staff and some League staff.
Other Characteristics:
Supervisory Responsibilities: CCCAA staff.
Supervision Received: Receives direction from the CCCAA Board which includes the League President & CEO.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move boxes of weight not exceeding 25 pounds.
