Taft, Hartnell take top two spots in Week One of CCCSIA Men's Soccer Poll
RIVERSIDE - After a week’s worth of competition, two Northern teams occupy the top two spots in the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) men’s soccer polls. Two Southern teams trail by a slight margin as the is top-10 split evenly between the North and South.
No. 1 Taft earns the opening week’s top spot after holding one of two overall records with four wins to go along with one tie. No. 2 Hartnell follows with a flawless 3-0 start that features two wins in their home tournament this past week. No. 8 Cerritos hold the other four-win record so far this season.
El Camino comes in at third overall after starting the season with a 4-3 nail biter victory over Norco. They capped their week of competition with a 5-0 win over Santa Monica.
No. 4 Golden West and No. 5 Folsom Lake round out the top five with impressive opening week starts. The Rustlers have allowed just one goal while netting eight, while Folsom Lake owns the best record in the Big 8 with a pair of 5-0 victories over Feather River and Napa Valley. They began their season with a 3-1 win over Clovis.
No. 6 Mt San Antonio, No. 7 Fullerton and No. 8 Cerritos round out the top-8, while a set of Northern teams featuring No. 9 American River and No. 10 Evergreen Valley complete the top-10.
No. 1 Taft will host Allan Hancock on Friday then host two Southern teams in Oxnard and College of the Desert. No. 2 Hartnell will host College of the Marin, followed by a showdown against Butte on their home pitch.
