HOST FRESNO CITY LEADS AFTER FIRST DAY OF WRESTLING

After the first day of the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Wrestling State Championships, host Fresno City College leads with 73.5 points and is the only team to have all 10 of their wrestlers advance to the second day. The second day starts with consolation matches at 10:00 a.m., followed by the medal matches at 12:30 p.m. The day is concluded with the championship finals, which will startt at 6:30 p.m.

Heading into the state championships, only Fresno City and Cerritos College had 10 wrestlers advance to the final weekend, but the Falcons had two of their wrestlers eliminated. They currently rank third with 62.5 team points, while defending state champion Santa Ana College is in second place with 63.5 team points.

With an opportunity to gain large quantity of points, Santa Ana leads all schools with six wrestlers who have advanced to the semi-finals, followed by Fresno City and fifth place Palomar College with five.
