COA and Wilson Renew Tennis Partnership

Sacramento, CA. . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a partnership renewal with Wilson Sporting Goods Racquet Division. The agreement identifies Wilson as the official ball sponsor of both the women's and men's regional championships and the Hyundai California Community College championships through the 2004 season.

"Wilson racquet division is a vital partner of the COA mens and womens tennis championships," said state commissioner Joanne A. Fortunato, Ph.D. They continue to be an integral part of the planning of the event and have always been a tremendous asset to the tennis coaches association. They are to be commended for their level of service and commitment to the COA tennis championship and to the respective coaches association."

The partnership provides Wilson with signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising at the regional and state championships. Wilson will provide the "Wilson Extra Duty Tennis Ball" as the official ball of the tournaments.

"Wilson Tennis Balls have been the Official Tennis Ball of the California Community College State Tennis Championships since 1982 and we are very proud of our twenty-year association with the COA," said Robert Shafer, Western Region Sales Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods Company Racquet Sports Division.

The 2002 Hyundai California Community College Tennis Championships will be hosted by the Pacific Coast Conference, May 9-11. The dual team championship will be held on May 9, with the singles and doubles championships spanning May 10-11.
