COLLEGE OF THE DESERT WINS 12th TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
For the second year in a row, and eighth time in the
last nine years, the College of the Desert men's tennis team has captured
the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Team Championship
presented by U.S. Bank. The Roadrunners, who have now won 12 team titles,
swept Chabot College, 5-0 on Thursday at the Claremont Club in Claremont.
College of the Desert finished the season with a 17-1 record, while
the Gladiators went 14-2.
"Our focus in the match was to limit our unforced errors and I told
the team before the match not go out there and make it hard on yourself,"
said Roadrunner head coach Carl Schroeder. "We were coming off a very
tough match that could have gone either way against Ventura College
to reach the finals and we just tried to focus on each opponent because
they got tougher every week."
