SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Unbeaten Irvine Valley College and once-defeated Cabrillo College have been named the top Southern California and Northern California regional seeds, respectively, for the 2017 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Volleyball Championships, which get underway on Saturday with teams vying for a chance to advance to the state championships in December at Solano College.
Both teams, along with MiraCosta and Feather River - the second seeds, respectively, in the south and north - will await the results of two play-in matches in each region that will be contested on Saturday. Irvine Valley and Cabrillo will face the lowest remaining seed after that round while MiraCosta and Feather River will play the other.
Round 1 matches will take place on Tuesday (Nov. 21). Regional matches that will determine the eight qualifiers for the state championships are scheduled for Nov. 25. The state tournament is scheduled for Dec. 2-3 at Solano College.
All matches will be hosted by the higher seed.
