EL CAJON, Calif. - The MSJC women's basketball team got off to a bit of a sluggish start on Wednesday night, but were able to come away with PCAC cross-over road win at Grossmont 70-54.
The Lady Eagles led just 17-12 after the first quarter and were able to extend it to 36-20 by halftime. It looked as though MSJC would blow the game open in the third as they built the lead to as much as 26, but the Griffons made some shots to close the score to 54-33 after three periods.
Delacy Brown led the MSJC offense with a game high 19 points, she also had 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the win. Britney Thomas recorded a double double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, she also tied Brown for team high honors in assists with 4. Kaila Gower scored 10 points for the Lady Eagles and Madeline Morrow added 9.
MSJC is now 18-1 on the season while Grossmont fell to 7-12. The Lady Eagles will play their final Pacific Coast Athletic Conference cross-over game at home on Friday night when they host Southwestern. The game on Friday night tips off at 5 pm. MSJC will start conference play in the PCAC North next Wednesday January 17th when they host Palomar in a doubleheader with the men's team. The women's game will also be at 5 on next Wednesday with the men's game to follow.
