SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Three of the top four seeds in both the NorCal and SoCal regional playoffs held serve to advance to the 2017 California Community College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championships at Las Positas College next week and will be joined by a pair of other top-10 seeds at the Elite Eight.

College of the Sequoias (27-3), City College of San Francisco (28-2) and College of the Siskiyous (29-1) entered the regional playoffs as the second through fourth seeds, respectively, in Northern California and each took care of business to advance. Foothill (23-8), seeded eighth, added their name to the party by upsetting top-seeded Sierra, 51-45.

Defending state champion Mt. San Antonio (30-2), East Los Angeles (28-2) and Ventura (27-5) went 1-2-3 in the SoCal seedings and each did what they had to do to move on. Palomar (27-2), seeded fifth, was the only team not in the top four to advance but still enters after a high seed.

The state tournament at Las Positas College in Livermore begins on Friday for the women. Mt. SAC Foothill at 1 p.m. and will be followed by East Los Angeles-College of the Siskiyous (3 p.m.), College of the Sequoias-Palomar (5 p.m.) and San Francisco-Ventura (7 p.m.)

The semifinals are set for 5 and 7 p.m. with survivors playing for the state title on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
