Former Santa Barbara City golfer sits in seventh at PGA tournament

LA QUINTA, Calif. - Ex-SBCC golfer Brandon Harkins is tied for 7th at the midway point of the CareerBuilder Challenge in La Quinta. The 31-year-old PGA Tour rookie shot a career-best 8-under 64 in the first round & 68 on Friday at Nicklaus Tournament Course for a 12-under 132.

He's 4 shots behind the leader Andrew Landry (63-65--128).
Harkins was the 2007 WSC Player of the Year at SBCC. He went on to play two seasons at Chico State.
He joined the PGA Tour last fall after qualifying from the Web.com Tour.
The native of Lafayette, Calif., finished 9th in his first PGA Tourney (Safeway Open at Napa on Oct. 8, 2017) and has four top-25 finishes in 7 events. He's 50th in the FedEx Cup and has earned nearly $360,000.
