CCCSIA State Poll #1

PASADENA, Calif. - Orange Coast College (17-2 record) is the state No. 1 ranked team in the very first California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Baseball poll as voted by a committee comprised of mostly conference SIDs from both regions. The points system for the poll is based on the 20 places chosen by each committee representative.

Orange Coast is one of five Orange Empire Conference teams to make the top 20 with Cypress at No. 6, Saddleback No. 7, Riverside CC #16, and Santa Ana at #20. Irvine Valley just missed making it six from that talented baseball conference as it topped others receiving points.

El Camino, from the South Coast South, is having one of its best starts to a season at 19-2 and earned the No. 2 slot, followed by San Joaquin Delta, the North's top team so far from the Big 8 at 19-2, at No. 3. The Big 8 has four teams in the top 20, featuring defending CCCAA state champion Santa Rosa at No. 4,  Sacramento City at #10, and Cosumnes River at #19.

Ohlone, from the Coast Pacific with a sparkling 19-2 mark, comes in at No. 5. Even though, the South region occupies the top two spots, the North had six teams in the top 10, including San Mateo (leading the Coast Golden Gate at 16-4) at No. 8 and Central Valley's Fresno City at No. 9.

The CCCSIA State Top Baseball poll will continue every week for the rest of the season.
