2003 Hall of Fame Inductees
California Community Colleges Men’s Golf Coaches Association
RAYMOND BALSLEY
San Mateo Community College Coach 1947-1977
Coached his teams to 17 conference titles and
six state titles. He coached as a “team sport” and created a positive
team attitude toward winning. Two of his players went on to play
on the PGA tour. They were Dick Lotz and Sandy Galbraith. Many of
his other players went on to become professional golf instructors.
RON CERRUDO
Chabot Community College Player 1964-1965
Ron was 1964 1st team all-conference. He was
the champion medalist at the Northern Regional and State in 1964.
Later played for San Jose State University and led that team to
a NCAA Golf Finals 2nd place finish. He was a two time All-American
at San Jose State. He later went on the PGA tour where he had a
successful career.
BOB EASTWOOD
San Joaquin Delta Community College 1965
Bob won the 1965 Sacramento City Amateur and
1965 Stockton City Golf Championships. Also won the 1966 California
State Amateur. Turned professional in 1969. In 1984 Bob won the
USF&G Classic and the Memphis Classic. He joined the Senior Tour
in 1996 and has had five top ten finishes his rookie season. Currently
is still playing the Senior Tour.
FOREST FEZLER
San Jose City College 1968-1969
Forest was the 1968 Conference champion and
3rd place finisher at the 1968 state finals while playing for San
Jose City College. In 1969 he won the State Championship and was
awarded the 1969 Community College Golfer of the year. In the summer
of 1969 he won the California State Amateur. He later went on to
play at Stanford University and in the PGA. In 1973 he was tour
rookie of the year. In 1974 he was the Southern Open Champion. Forest
is currently working for a national architect company.
DICK LOTZ
San Mateo Community College 1962-1963
Dick was Medalist at the California Community
Championships. He played on the PGA Tour from 1965-1977 winning
three times and was 7th on the money list in 1970. Dick was selected
Golf Magazine All-American in 1970.
ROGER MALTBIE
San Jose City College 1970-1971
Roger was Northern California Champion in 1971.
Later went on to play at San Jose State before turning pro. In 1972
he won the California State Amateur. Hew became PGA rookie of the
year in 1972. Between 1975-85 he won five PGA events,including the
first Memorial Open in 1976. Currenty working as a golf analyst
for NBC.
