2003 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Bowl
Selection Announcement
SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community
College Commission on Athletics (COA) will release the names of the 2003 California
Community College football bowl game participants, as selected by the COA Football
Bowl Game Selection Committee, on the official COA website, www.coasports.org, no
later than 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Additionally, the bowl game participants
will be listed at www.jcfootball.com, the website of COA corporate partner JCFootball.com.
The announcement will also be distributed to California media outlets. Telephone,
fax and email inquiries will not be honored.
COA sanctioned regional bowl games, with host college in parenthesis, are:
November 22:
East County Bowl (Los Medanos College)
National Bowl (Mission Conference)
Pacific Graffiti Bowl (Modesto Junior College)
Potato Bowl (Bakersfield College)
Producers Dairy Bowl (Fresno City College)
Silicon Valley Bowl (Foothill College)
Southwestern College South County Bowl (Southwestern College)
US Bank Beach Bowl (Santa Monica College)
Verizon Southern California Bowl (Chaffey College)
Western State Bowl (Western State Conference)
November 29:
Capital Shrine Bowl (Sacramento City College)
Tri Counties Bank Holiday Bowl (Butte College)
Southern California Semifinal Games (Hosted by higher seed)
December 6:
CLO Bowl (Santa Rosa Junior College)
San Francisco Hawaiian Punch Bowl (City College of San Francisco)
Southern California Championship Game (Hosted by higher seed)
December 13:
California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics
Football Championship (Bakersfield College)
Presented by Blue Diamond Growers and the Bakersfield Sports Marketing Council
In Northern California, the COA Football Bowl Game Selection Committee will designate
one of the Northern California bowl games as the Northern California championship,
to be contested by the champions of the Northern Division Conferences (Nor-Cal and
Valley).
In Southern California, four of the November 22 Southern California bowl games will
be designated as first-round playoff games by the Football Bowl Game Selection Committee.
Semifinal (November 29) and championship (December 6) games will be hosted by the
higher seed.
The winners of the Northern California and Southern California championship playoff
games will advance to the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics
Football Championship presented by Blue Diamond Growers and the Bakersfield Sports
Marketing Council on December 13, 2002 at Bakersfield College’s Memorial Stadium
in Bakersfield, California. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
